Ibrahim KaragülDaily Cumhuriyet in its Tuesday edition quoted an excerpt in its headline from an article written by Michael Rubin in the last edition of the National Review magazine, "Gülen is like Khomeini," referring to Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen.

The claims put forward by Rubin in his article, titled "Turkey's Turning Point," overlap precisely with the discourse of Cumhuriyet, which has taken one of the most controversial positions on the current crisis in Turkey. It also hints at a certain solidarity between the two. Rubin is someone who made his name known thanks to the lies and defamation campaign he launched against Turkey, the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. He comes to the agenda with provocations and allegations that are beyond one's imagination. He is a neo-fascist who will create a disaster in Turkey one day if he has the chance.
