Karzai Awards Turkish-Afghan Schools with Highest MedalThe president of Afghanistan honored Turkish schools in his country, awarding them a prestigious state medal on Monday.

Hamid Karzai presented the Afghan-Turkish schools with the Sayed Jamaluddin Afghan Medal, one of Afghanistan's most prestigious medals during a ceremony in the Afghan capital city of Kabul.

"Turkey is a sister and friend of Afghanistan," Karzai said during the ceremony, adding that teachers in Afghan-Turkish schools helped the students for international competitions with modern and scientific equipments in Afghanistan.

There are currently approximately 2,600 students enrolled in eight Turkish schools in Afghanistan. The Turkish schools employ 100 Turkish and 100 Afghan teachers.
