Fethullah Gulen: 'If My Schools Are Reactionary I Am the Most Dishonorable Person in the World'

Fethullah Gulen has denied that his schools were teaching reactionary ideas and declared, "If allegations claiming my schools are reactionary are true, I am the most dishonorable person in the world."

Gulen spoke to journalists after attending the 32nd ordinary convention of Turkish Heaths (you clubs founded in the early years of the Republic).

He said that Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit's positive attitude towards him and his activities dated back some years. Gulen pointed out that Ecevit had maintained a consistent attitude and the reason for this was Ecevit's love of the Islam of Yunus Emre and Haci Bektasi Veli, the Anatolia news agency reported.

"Army officers give national security courses in my schools. If reactionary ideas were being taught they would be the first to notice," Gulen said. 09.14.2001
