Following the collapse of the dormitory in central Turkiye that killed 16 students. Turkish scholar Fethullah Gulen issued a message expressing his condolences.

Fetullah Gulen's statement reads: "I have learned about the sad accident that broke out in a student dormitory in Taskent town of Konya province. This inferno which shook the nation has hurt me deeply. I believe that we should pray to God sincerely to protect our nation and state from even worse catastrophes. And also we as the nation and the state should stay in unity and be on the alert against all the possible evils especially in this period of time. Our children who lost their lives in this morning's incident must be in heaven by the permission of the Almighty. May God have mercy on the souls of our children who lost their lives as well as others. May God give patience to the parents and relatives of our children who were killed during the incident. May God give quick recovery to the injured ones. I also express my condolences to the Turkish nation.
